Oddsmakers have been quick to write off the Cardinals after a poor performance by the team’s offense in Seattle last weekend.

While Drew Stanton did play poorly in that one, he’s still been able to guide the team to a 3-2 record in his five starts, plus help them to a come-from-behind win over the St. Louis Rams, with the two losses coming on the road against the Broncos and Seahawks.

This week, the Cardinals draw a lousy Falcons team that is 4-0 inside the awful NFC South and 0-7 against all other comers.

Top Bet

The Cards have really had Matt Ryan’s number over the last two seasons, as Ryan has thrown a whopping nine interceptions with only one touchdown in those two games.

The Arizona offense had trouble without wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald in Seattle last weekend, as quarterback Drew Stanton completed 14-of-26 passes for 149 yards and the Cardinals were limited to all of three points in a 19-3 loss. The Cardinals ranked 25th in the league with 321.3 yards per game.

The Falcons don’t figure to get a lot done against the Cardinals’ defense either. The Falcons haven’t had a rusher go over 100 yards in 35 consecutive regular-season games, while the Cardinals haven’t allowed a 100-yard rushed in 21 straight games – both the longest active streaks in the league.

The Cardinals defense is allowing 17.7 points per game on the season, which puts them in a tie for second in the league, and the unit has held each of its last four opponents under 300 yards.

Free Atlanta vs. Arizona Pick:

The Cardinals simply aren’t getting the respect they deserve in this matchup. While they may have been embarrassed in last week’s outing at Seattle, a trip out to Atlanta isn’t as imposing as it had been in the past.

  • The Cardinals are 8-0 ATS in their last eight road games against opponents with a losing home record, and they are 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games overall.
  • The Cardinals are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games, while the Falcons are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games.
  • The under is 6-1 in the Falcons’ last seven games overall, and it is 14-3 in their last 17 games in the month of November.
  • The under is 4-1-1 in the Cardinals’ last six games overall, and it is 9-3-1 in the Cardinals’ last 13 games against NFC opponents.

The play: Arizona -2.5, Under 44.5

Additionally, the Cardinals’ defense won’t let the Falcons’ offense get off the ground, so while the Cardinals figure to get something going on offense against a putrid Atlanta defense, the under is still worth a look.
